Job Summary
To provide a comprehensive guidance program students consisting of guidance curriculum, individual planning, responsive services, and system support components as outlined in the South Carolina Comprehensive Developmental Guidance and Counseling Program Model.
Consult with administration, teachers, parents, and staff to enhance effectiveness in helping students and provide support and assistance to other educational programs within the school and district.
Essential Duties Implementing the South Carolina Comprehensive Developmental Guidance and Counseling Program Model for the high school guidance program through classroom guidance, individual and group counseling, and infusion in content areas.
Counseling individuals and groups of students toward the promotion of academic growth and career development.
Monitor student academic performance, and verify requirements for graduation.
Counsel and guide students in developing and updating an Individual Graduation Plan (IGP).
Counseling individuals and small groups of students toward personal/social and emotional growth in assisting students to set realistic goals.
Consulting with teachers, staff, and parents regarding the developmental needs of students and to enhance their effectiveness in helping students.
Referring students to special programs, specialists, and/or community agencies, and consulting with parents regarding referrals when appropriate.
Participating in, coordinating, and conducting activities that contribute to the effective operation of the counseling program and school.
Participate in the intervention-team process and/or the school's student support team in development of realistic interventions to meet student needs.
Planning and evaluating the counseling program.
Pursuing continuous professional growth and development through workshops, lectures, and institutes to enhance job performance.
Other Duties Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator that serve to promote the social and academic well-being of student.

Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken interpersonal communication skills.
4.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology.
5.

Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms; walk; sit; stoop or kneel; crouch or crawl.
